Left out in the cold?

Some of the wildest things happen in the Korea Baseball Futures League, which is the Korea Baseball Organization’s (KBO) farm league.

In a matchup between the KIA Tigers and Lotte Giants on April 5, Tigers starter Lee Jeong-hun (이정훈) gave up 15 runs (all earned) in 3.2 innings of work.

So, what is the record for most runs given up in a game by a single pitcher in Korea’s big leagues?  The answer is “14” (all earned) set by Kim Yu-bong (김유봉) of the Seoul Doosan Bears back in 1999 (vs. Samsung Lions).

  1. Well since it was the minor league, maybe winning and losing doesnt matter and he just needed to get his work in.

    • Yes, that is true. There is no special honor in having a good record in the Korean Futures League. It was actually pretty cold (in the mid 30s, Fahrenheit) the day this guy pitched.
