Lee Byung-kyu Joins 2,000-Hit Club

On May 14, LG Twins outfielder/designated hitter, Lee Byung-kyu (이병규, this is the older Lee Byung-kyu who wears no. 9), was congratulated by the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) in a pre-game ceremony for reaching the Korea Baseball Championship’s 2,000-hit plateau.

The feat was achieved on May 6 against the Hanwha Eagles as he went 2-for-4 with two more hits to reach no. 2,000 before the game.  And, it also came in game-winning fashion.

What is impressive about this milestone is that Lee joins a club that features only three other players with him playing the least amount of games to reach it.  He is the only player to reach it with a single ballclub, and this does not include the three seasons he spent in Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB).
