Murray State’s Baseball Program History

Murray State’s baseball program has been part of the university since 1933 when it was established as a club sport. In 1961, the program grew to become a varsity sport, joining the Ohio Valley Conference.

The Racers have had tremendous success over the years, winning the Ohio Valley Conference title in 1975 and 1981. They have also made several NCAA Regional appearances, most recently in 1996.

Murray State Baseball Facilities

Murray State’s baseball program is housed in the brand-new, state-of-the-art Reagan Field. The facility opened in 2017 and is the home of the Racers’ baseball program. The stadium features seating for 2,000 fans, a full turf field, a press box, and a video board.

The facility also houses a clubhouse, locker room, and weight room for the team. Reagan Field is also home to the Murray State Softball program.

Murray State Baseball Coaching Staff

Murray State’s baseball program is led by head coach Kevin Moulder. Moulder has been the head coach of the Racers since 2012 and has had tremendous success. He has led the team to four Ohio Valley Conference titles and three NCAA Regional appearances.

Moulder is assisted by assistant coaches Jason Kincaid, Tyler Robinson, and Cody Grice. The coaching staff also includes volunteer assistant coach Nick Shumaker and director of operations Jonathon Reaves.

Murray State Baseball Players

The Racers’ roster is comprised of players from all over the country. The team includes several players from the state of Kentucky, as well as players from other states including Florida, Georgia, and California.

The team features several talented players, including shortstop Max Bartlett, who was named the Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Year in 2019. The team also features four Preseason All-Ohio Valley Conference selections in 2020.

Murray State Baseball Schedule

The Racers play a full schedule of games each season, including conference and non-conference opponents. In 2020, the Racers will play a total of 56 games, including 33 OVC games.

The team will open the 2020 season with a three-game series against the University of Tennessee at Martin on February 14-16. The Racers will then play a four-game series against Kentucky on February 21-23.
