World Baseball Classic is an international baseball tournament organized by the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC). It is the first international tournament to feature the top national teams from around the world. The tournament was first held in 2006 and has been held every four years since then. The 2009 tournament was the third edition of the tournament and featured 16 teams competing for the championship. The final four teams that advanced to the championship round were the United States, Japan, Korea and Venezuela. Unfortunately, one country failed to make it to the final and that country was Cuba.
